Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that the reason I have not been attending any of the events is because my R1100rt was "Written-Off" in July and I'm still waiting for the Claim to be settled which should be happening sometime this week(Fingers Crossed).

I was Rear-ended by a car travelling at a fairly high rate of speed. I jumped off at the exact same time as impact and the only injury i suffered was a sprained ankle.Unfortunately the bike wasn't so lucky and suffered catastrophic damage to the rear end, Final Drive and Right cylinder.

I'm looking at buying a used 2009 R1200rt premium with 85,000 K and was wondering if anyone has this kind of bike and if so what are some of the things to watch out for. The last service done on it was at 70,000 K and it has been sitting for 2 years.

I checked the rear wheel play at 9&3 and 6&12 and there wasn't any....no leaks and a carfax report shows that all the recalls have been done.

Thanks and hopefully I'll see you all soon,

...Patrick H

Hi Patrick.

Sorry to hear about your accident and loss of your bike, but real glad you came out of it without some serious bodily damage.

I can't offer much advice about the replacement bike but it sounds like you are checking the main things. If its been sitting for two years, I would plan on replacing all fluids including brake and clutch fluid and I would also have a real good look at the brake lines. If they're original I would say this is a great time to upgrade to braided brake lines. Also, check the age of the tires. There may be plenty of tread but they may be hard as a rock.

Good luck and hopefully we'll see you on the road real soon.

Hey Patrick, sorry to hear about your accident, that is really bad, glad you are ok. I will recommend a full change of fluids once you purchase the bike, other than that hope to see you soon.

Cheers
Dan
