As you may have heard BMW will no longer provide service manuals for its bikes.
I will never buy a bike for which the manufacturer will not provide a service manual.
End of rant.

This is becoming a huge issue for the repair industry. No "right to Repair" here in Canada. There is mediocre info out there but we pay dearly. Subscriptions to access the info is the new income stream for manufacturers

It took four years and a change in the composition of the Board but the BMW MOA has finally done something in the interests of its members to promote the restoration of service manuals:

Hopefully the pressure from the BMW clubs can make a difference, but I'm not too optimistic. This problem as well as the requirement of subscriptions to keep features on vehicles active really rankles with me. If I've purchased a vehicle with heated seats, I expect them to work for the life of the vehicle without having to pay a subscription for it. I've been thinking of buying a new bike, but these issues are going to be a factor in what make of bike I buy, or even if I buy new or not.

A little late but they are now trying.. I fear it will fall on deaf ears.. Most OEM manuals are now on-line only.. It is my understanding even the techs don't get the whole picture just the segments that pertain to what ever they are plugged into.. So almost impossible to supply a whole manual on line or other wise.
Been a couple of years since I retired but even then the remote programming service that we subscribed to was getting squeezed out having a hard time accessing OEM info. .. Talking with Nick at the shop and it is even worse now. Of course independent shops always seem to find work arounds so struggle along.
