Last Sunday, Bill and I took a ride down to Rock Creek on 33. It was a great day but traffic was noticeably busier than it was a couple of weeks ago. We stopped for some coffee at the Red Rock Garage, then rode to the Kettle River Rec Area (It was still closed) before turning back to Kelowna. We took a rest at the Rest Stop just north of Beaverdell.

Today I joined Adrian and Mark to go look at a 1978 R100S for sale in Winfield.



It's a good looking bike but it appears to have a lot of miles. (>200,000 Miles)



It started readily and sounded pretty good. I'm not in love with the fairing he has on it, but the original S fairing comes with it.



We'll have to think on it a bit.

After the washout of the Princeton Breakfast Ride on Sunday, the weather took a turn for the better on Monday.

I called Adrian and Bill and we decided to take a ride. The initial idea was to ride Hwy 6 from Vernon to Needles, one of my favorite roads. We had a nice run out through Lumby and Cherryville, but hit some heavy rain near the Shuswap River. It didn't last too long and we were back into sunshine by the time we hit the Monashee Rest Stop.



Traffic was very light and when we got the Ferry terminal and joined the line we decided to carry on to Nakusp for lunch. It was a nice crossing over Arrow Lake.



The ferry worker managed to get us loaded at the very back of the Ferry. We were anticipating following a large line of traffic down the highway but we got off fairly quickly and some of the trucks ahead of us turned off very quickly.

As planned we stopped in Nakusp and what we thought was a new Bistro. The sign on the tront said "Hoss & Jull's Bistro" which we didn't recognize. The lady inside said they had been in business for 23 years. I think they renovated and changed the name. I think it used to be called "Cutrite Meats & Deli". At any rate it is nicely updated and they have some nice outside seating.


We can recommend them for a visit the next time you're in the area as the food was good.


That's an odd assortment of bikes we had there. Nothing like being a group of individuals.

At this point we decided to take the long way home. We headed south on Hwy 6 through New Denver and continued on towards Slocan. We took a break at the Lemon Creek Rest Area. Like all the streams and rivers in the area, Lemon Creek was really cooking.


There was some interesting graffiti on the underside of the bridge. The artist certainly did this when the water was much lower.


The rest of the trip home was just a nice easy ride on Hwy 3 and Hwy 33. We stopped for a coffee in Christina Lake and for fuel at Rock Creek. We missed a traffic tie-up at Rock Creek that cleared before we got there. It seems a motorcycle accident had closed the hwy for a while.

The run from Rock Creek to Kelowna was a little tense as it was early evening and the deer came out to play. It was a continuous strain to watch for the camouflaged forest rats lurking by the roadside. We made it home safely by 9:00 PM after a day of 698 km.

We reflected several times during the day that even though we may not get to do some of our longer tours, and even if some of our events have been cancelled, we still live in one of the worlds best motorcycling areas. Being able to do day rides like this is still pretty awesome.

Played hooky today as I had a planned appointment at Bentley to have the loose spoke looked at. Beautiful ride down Westside, no traffic that early in the morning. After being told I was "good to go" I headed back the same way. Being early I go the idea to go visit my sister in Lumby. She has moved her store and if you need Solar power or wood/gas heating she is your gal. ( shameless Plug ) We had a most excellent lunch, Covid rules included. After that I decided to go check out our camp spot that we have reserved at Mable Lake. Just to make sure the RVs will fit. I think that road is one of my new favourites. And yes the RVs will. Camping with my racing buddy later this summer. Lifted my spirits a bit more to know I got some camping to to do even if the Valley Riders aren't there. Ha. Of course there's lots of water flowing, So going from Pandemic right to flooding, what's next Pestilence??? And of course don't wash your GS, this happens :-0 grrrr sideways again but now I know
