Wow! That drive shaft is ugly! Do you think it may have partly due to the excess load from pulling the sidecar?

More than likely it didn't help. I do hear that it is not that un-common though. Another weak spot.

Got my GS911 just in time to clear the Nasty service warning that comes up on my TFT screen. Performed the first service on the new GSA. Kind of a shame to chuck out the oil that I dropped from the engine. Clean as a whistle. I even stretched the interval to 1400 k heaven forbid LOL-- Still haven't found the little Thumpty Thump that is my foot pegs though. Thought I found it as the mounts for my engine guard were loose to the point of one bolt ready to fall out. Not sure if I trust the PDI guys that did my bike now!!! It might be in the rear shock??

Working on cleaning and doing some maintenance on the Sidecar as the snow banks are too high to see over. Making sure the front suspension that I pound on is still up to the task. Fixing some sticky brake callipers, and cleaning more of that Dempster silt from places it shouldn't be.

So far this winter here's what I've done:

  • Engine Oil & Filter Change
  • Replaced Front Brake Pads
  • Replaced Rear Brake Pads & Disc
  • Changed Brake and Clutch Fluid
  • Lubed Drive Shaft and Swing Arm Pivots
  • Changed Final Drive Oil
  • Re-filled Rear Shock Pre-load Reservoir
  • Removed digital speedometer and re-installed the stock speedometer
  • Removed Handlebar Risers
  • Mounted new voltmeter and temperature guage

  • Still left to do:

  • Valve Check and/or Adjustment
  • Synchronize Throttle Bodies
  • New Alternator Belt
  • Install new tires (I'll likely wait about 2k before I do this.)

  • My "New" Dashboard. Only 6550 km on a 19 year old bike! Think I'll get away with it?
