Looks great, Wayne.
Hope you will enjoy a lot of miles with the bike.

I didn´t do much of a work on my two bikes. Instead i will try a different approach to motorbiking.
I "pushed" my girlfriend to get here own motorbike drivers license (to get rid of the guy in front).

So now i´m trying to sell both, the K1200 and the FJR1300 and get two smaller bikes.
Probably around 700-1000ccm and up to 97hp (for her) and around 100-120 (for me).
Smaller in size and easier to put on a trailer. And, sorry to say, not necessarily a BMW.

I will see, what the moarket offers.

Cheers
Mike :woohoo:

Not today, but over the winter, I did a pretty extensive re-build of the new to me 1995 R1100GS that I acquired last spring. I bought it with 30,000 miles on the clock and put over 5000 miles on it last summer (loving every minute). On my last day of insurance in mid-October, one of the driveshaft u-joints experienced a catastrophic failure while I was tooling around Kelowna for one last ride before putting the bike to bed for the winter. I returned home with the bike on a flatbed BCAA truck! Fortuitously, only the day before I had had it on top of Apex Mountain in the snow, so in a way I was lucky in my bad luck! Anyway, I spent the winter learning how to wrench on the bike, and did the following (in no particular order):

Timing Chain Tensioner Update – kit from Rubber Chicken Racing
Clutch Removal/Clean/Inspection – in good shape, 5.4 mm remaining
Replaced Drive Shaft (due to catastrophic u-joint failure at 35,354 miles) – used, found on ebay
Final Drive Inspection – in good shape
Replaced Final Drive Pivot Bearings – Nylatron Bushings purchased from ADV Rider Inmate
Replaced Paralever Pivot Bearings
Transmission Rebuild - Bruno's Machine & Repair, Ironbridge, Ontario – he does great work!
New Galfer Stainless Steel Brake Lines – From Summit Racing
Brake Fluid Flush
Speed Bleeders Installed
Inspected Brake Pad Wear - lots of life left
Ignition/ABS II Mod (determined not necessary due to new battery, see below)
Ohlins Shocks Upgrade – huge difference over the tired stock Showa’s
Replaced Damaged Left Signal Button (and right, to match)
Replaced Faded Dash Toggle Switch Labels
Replaced Damaged Upper Front Mudguard, repainted
Repainted tank, fenders, certain body panels - Alpine White (Boyds Autobody)
Powdercoated lower crash bars, luggage rack, top bridge (Falcon Powder Coating)
Repaired Cracked Rear Stock Luggage Rack (Altar Metal Fab, Kelowna)
Custom Skid Plates (Altar Metal Fab)
Replaced Tank Decals (vector file created by my son, Stephen, printed by Stroma Signs)
Replaced Tank Badges
Replaced Damaged Top Bridge
Replaced Steering Head Bearing
Replaced Fork Tube Link Joints

After chasing down a couple minor mechanical issues, I finally got the bike on the road, and took my first real ride since the re-build last Sunday. About 130 miles up Westside Road to Armstrong and back past Predator Ridge on Commonage Road, and everything worked amazing! Looking forward to putting many, many more miles on the bike!

I'll post a picture of the bike, post-rebuild, along with a shot of the failed driveshaft u-joint that started the whole process, and a picture of what the bike looked like just a few short weeks ago!

Wow, you have been busy. I feel like a lazy sloth by comparison. The picture looks awesome and it should look even better on Sunday.

I took a run up to Vernon over Commonage Road last Sunday as well. Ended up riding up to Mabel Lake Provincial Park.

I see what you mean by a "Catastrophic Failure". Did the shaft give you any advance warning? Such as vibration?
